hidden gems

one of my profs was talking about the importance of doing research manually by looking through book stacks so i thought i'd take him up on that. i just took a little trip down to the basement to the government book stack section to find WTO Agreements and Public Health. granted it took me half an hour to find something that was staring at me in the face (it was the first book that was facing me albeit on a lower shelf), BUT i discovered a hidden gem down there. moveable bookshelves!!!! call me a nerd, but it was soo cool. all you had to do was to push a button and the shelf would move to one side, revealing an aisle where you can walk in and browse. then if you needed another aisle, you just push another button. AND get this, when you stepped in a light went on. i felt like i was in some kind of fantasy/sci- fi movie. it'd been cool if i had been transported to another place or something. that totally made my day. and yes i did stand there pushing buttons for fun.....
