the fantastic five

inspired by kirsten's blog, well..actually copying, inspired is just a better sounding word- here's the five books that have made the cut and are acompanying me on my adventure out west to cowtown.

the fantastic five
mere christianity by c.s. lewis
questioning evangelism by randy newman
money, possessions, and eternity by randy alcorn
postcards from corinth by rick james with betty churchhill
not even a hint by joshua harris

i can't wait. april is like "project season" when you're all revved and ramped for project. i was going to say OEX...but i'm not going on OEX this year. sorta sad. i was getting a bit nostalgic this morning remembering orientation in vancity, the annual near death landings in the capital, the street meat (and mushrooms), the bang bang chicken, the hazy skies, the rank smells, the culture shock.....at least that project's easier to pack for. hahaha i think i rather prefer the relational evangelism on OEX as opposed to the randoms on panama. but then panama was only a week. apples and oranges. it'd be fun to lead an OEX team.

on another note one of girl talk's back posts was on the habits of an effective woman. one of the habits was getting up early to have enough time to have a QT and prepare to serve the family. they called it the 5:00am club. the strategy is to set the alarm clock at five leaving the clock across the room, get up immediately once it goes off, and head straight to the coffee pot. apparently only the first 15 minutes are miserable then you'd have a productive day. so i thought i'd give it a go since i have so much to do before calgs.

i figured since i'm a single uni student with only my own hunger pangs to look after i can allow myself a few extra hours to snooze so i set my alarm for 7:00. (oh the joys of being single! w00t~) i ended waking up @ 7:30. five and a half hours later @ 2:00pm i've had two cups of joe, am tired, and cannot nap because of jittery nerves. since it's only day one i'll hold off on the verdict. it was nice to enjoy the morning air, but i don't know if crashing @ 2pm in the afternoon is worth it. but then maybe if i sleep earlier than 1:30 tonight...to be determined...

hmm..managed to nap for an hour after all. this could potentially work.
